Welcome to Judy’s Journal!
The Lord works in wonderful ways! I had the privilege of caring for my sister in California during her recent health issues resulting from a car accident. I can’t even begin to give the Lord the adequate praise for all He did during that time. My sister is on the mend and we are thankful. I’m amazed!
During my time in California, I served in local church ministry and not so much the Christian Music Industry. I learned so much there and I can’t explain the wonderful work God did in my heart. He refreshed my spirit in the most wonderful way and ignited my passion for ministry.
It was also during that time away, the Lord laid it on my heart to re-launch Gospel Music Update. When I got back to Nashville, we got busy! We are absolutely thrilled to have Gospel Music Update back up and running. We have put a lot of thought into this new direction and we are looking forward to seeing what great things the Lord has in store.
In the planning stages of our re-launch, Editor in Chief, Rhonda Frye and I spent a lot of time discussing our vision for the site. It was very important to the both of us to share the latest happenings in the world of Christian music with excellence. Most of all we wanted to do it with a joyful spirit and servant’s heart. In our planning, this is the statement we felt best described what our intentions are at Gospel Music Update: “Spotlighting the gospel through Media, it is our mission to speak hope, spread joy, show love, share Jesus, serve you and take pictures!” We want to be more than a source for Christian Music news and information, we truly want to strengthen the body of Christ and the Christian Music Industry.
It is on my heart to use this platform as a source of encouragement. We all need it, don’t we? Not long ago, I ran across a commencement speech delivered by Oprah Winfrey. In her address, she mentioned failure, stumbling and set-backs. As she spoke about how we all experience difficult times, I couldn’t help but think about the many Christian artists out there dealing with these types of frustrations. The truth is, as Christians, we do have an adversary out there prowling around seeking whom he may devour! The enemy does not want us to spread the good news of Jesus and will do anything to keep us from doing so. We have to come together as an industry so we can advance the Kingdom of God as a mighty force in a mighty way. We begin by loving and serving one another.
I am grateful the Lord has given me so many wonderful experiences in gospel music during my lifetime. I’ve been involved in many aspects and angles and I am thankful for the memories made for the relationships I hold close to my heart. In the weeks and months ahead, I plan to share some of those memories and pictures here in Judy’s Journal at Gospel Music Update. I’m also looking forward to getting back out in the music scene! I love to be where the action is at, so getting out to events is top priority for me. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts about the experiences to come.
Thank you to all of my friends that prayed for me and my family over the past few months. We are grateful for God’s healing. We were first-hand witnesses to that mighty healing power. I’m excited as the Lord has allowed circumstances to change so that I can shift my focus back to the ministry of Gospel Music. I’m looking forward to the great things I know He is going to do. It’s really all about Him and He truly works in wonderful ways!
