Thanks to the legendary Lou Hildreth, my new motto is “Show Up And Shine!” On the way to the Memphis Quartet Show, Judy Nelon gave Ms. Lou a call. Judy told her how wonderful the night before was at the The BMI Awards dinner and also told her how we were on the way to Memphis and then on to Atlanta for the International Christian Retail Show. On speaker phone, Ms. Lou was thrilled to hear of our travels and said, “Ladies…You just show up and shine!” I knew exactly what she meant by that, because her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 5:16. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” After we hung up, I looked at Judy and said, “That’s my new motto…Show Up And Shine!”
These last few weeks were full of opportunities to show up and shine! Several of my songwriter friends won awards at BMI this year, so that was a great experience to see them honored. Also, it was great to see many dear friends at the Memphis Quartet Show. I wish we could have stayed longer, the music was fantastic!
Before heading to Atlanta, I showed up at an Adam Crabb concert. What a guy, what a voice! He did the shining, I think I just glowed with a sisterly pride! Sister in Jesus, that is! Anyway, it was a blessing to hear Adam sing and catch Gerald preaching the next day, but I had to run on so I could show up at the next place.
In Atlanta, I encountered Phil Robertson and Ms. Kay in the parking lot at the Omni Hotel! I guess I was at the right place at the right time, but none the less I was face to beard with a celebrity! Later on that night, I had the opportunity to introduce myself, shake hands and grab a picture with the Robertsons while we were backstage.
This year was my first experience at ICRS, but I loved meeting new friends and seeing dear ones like the Nelons, Dusty Wells, best-selling author, Ken Abraham and wife Lisa and New Day Distribution’s sweet Dani Lintzenich! I was especially proud of Amber Nelon Thompson for an incredible performance on opening night.
The next week, I just had to travel around the river, over the mountain back into Music City for some more action! I thoroughly LOVED the songwriter’s night at IMMERSE! Lifeway’s auditorium was packed and the students enjoyed hearing the story behind some of the best songs out! What an amazing night.
Later that week, it was time for GIRL BONDING! Thank you to Jim and Melissa Brady for inviting me to attending the Something Beautiful Conference. It was incredible and life changing for me and many others. It was great to see Allison Speer, the Talleys and meet new friends. That same week, I also had the chance to bond with another sweet Christian artist, Natasha Owens. I loved hearing all about her ministry over lunch.
Kicking off the month of July with a bang, we showed up at the CD Release Concert by Joseph Habedank! What a treat! The new CD is amazing and to hear the stories behind the songs was too cool. Speaking of cool… I met Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys! Wow. Yes. Very Cool!
That’s my RUNDOWN. Thank you, Ms. Lou for encouraging me to Show Up and Shine. I want to be everywhere the action is shining for Jesus. Thank you, Jesus for allowing me to do so! Let me encourage YOU to get out, show up and shine too!
